The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) determined that BOS was in need of new GIS database mapping and electronic airport layout plan (eALP) data. Woolpert was selected to create and submit a complete, useable and FAA-approved eALP for BOS. Woolpert’s project goal was to comply with Massport CAD standards and FAA advisory circulars while enabling conversion between the standards of each dataset.

Woolpert is meeting this need with a reusable process that enables the airport to maintain data deliverables beyond the initial eALP in preparation for future submissions.

Massport and Woolpert examined the challenges of combining Massport data with FAA data. One-to-one comparisons existed in many, but not all, cases. For some feature classes, such as utilities, Massport wanted to track data beyond FAA standards, especially for those with out-of-date data. Woolpert field-reviewed all airside utilities and merged the Massport attribute data with the values (x, y and z) derived from the imagery.
