When Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) needed to complete two projects simultaneously in a four-week timeframe, Woolpert evaluated their needs and completed both projects expeditiously and successfully.

Houck Stadium houses SEMO’s conference-winning Redhawks football and soccer team field. With a dated slit-film product nearing the end of its service life, Woolpert designed a new, impressive and competition-ready field. The new playing turf is now covered using the latest mono-filament surfaces. The design also included additional practice space, improvements in drainage around the field, replacements of the goal posts with new rotating posts and a new cleat-safe access drive bordering the stadium seating.

At the same time, the Rosengarten Athletic Facility required needed renovations to attract the best student athletes. Woolpert provided architectural and engineering design/construction services of this 12,000-square-foot complex. From new wood lockers, team showers, a stadium meeting room and new finishes, the space was reconfigured and updated to meet not only the current facility needs, but the latest technology demands necessary for the football team and staff. To assist the university in fundraising efforts, Woolpert also prepared renderings of finished spaces to attract alumni and other donors.

Woolpert finished the projects in time for the upcoming football and soccer seasons. This work was also coordinated with other contractors working on other athletic facility and stadium improvements that needed to be completed in the same timeframe.
