Title XVI Water Reuse & Recycling: A Cost-Effective Option for Expanding Water Portfolios?

Woolpert Senior Strategic Consultant David Wegner put together this timely article about U.S. Department of Interior’s Water Reuse and Recycling Program (Title XVI) for The Water Report, a monthly newsletter for water and environmental professionals and organizations in the western U.S.

In “Title XVI Water Reuse & Recycling: A Cost-Effective Option for Expanding Water Portfolios?” Wegner discusses the history of the Title XVI program, outlines how the program has been used to augment existing local and regional water supplies and discusses the role Title XVI plays in the context of more traditional water development.

“The issue of water security has emerged as climate change impacts available supplies,” Wegner writes. “Water is a critical element of a nation’s security. Without adequate water supplies a nation’s economy, health and environmental integrity can be threatened. Thankfully, most water utility managers and leaders realize that maintaining water quantity and quality at an affordable price to all economic sectors is one of their most important jobs.”
