Welcome to the second blog of my series, Common Mistakes with Mapping Platforms. Today, I am focusing on how you can select a platform that can solve your organization’s unique problems.

Every mapping platform provides its own unique set of processes and tools. It makes sense, then, that if a platform’s toolbox doesn’t have the right tool for your job, you will not see improvements in functionality, efficiency or accuracy. Before making a platform selection, think critically about your tasks and develop a list of requirements to evaluate the capability of candidate platforms to effectively meet your needs. Begin by asking these key questions:

  • Do you need to provide critical information such as address validation, drive times or points of interest?
  • Do you want to integrate with your own data services, or do you need a platform that can host spatial data for you?

The Google Difference
The Google Maps platform is uniquely suited to solving some of the most challenging problems facing businesses today. From accurate and consistent addressing to advanced route optimization, fleet management and site selection, Google’s powerful APIs provide innovative solutions based on location intelligence.
