Woolpert Hires Roads and Bridges Geospatial Practice Leader

Tom Ruschkewicz will leverage his extensive geospatial and transportation experience to expand the practice into new market areas.

DAYTON, Ohio (Feb. 18, 2019) — Tom Ruschkewicz, RPLS, PLS, has been hired by Woolpert as a roads and bridges geospatial practice leader in its Transportation market. Ruschkewicz has more than 25 years of experience and a diverse background in the professional surveying and geospatial industries.

Ruschkewicz’s experience encompasses public transportation, aviation, federal agencies, municipal infrastructure, public utilities, energy, telecommunications, and residential/commercial land development. In this new position, his breadth of knowledge over a wide range of services provides a strong background in professional consulting. This enables him to better understand how to meet the challenges and demands of customers.

“My primary goal is to expand the roads and bridges geospatial practice to new market areas,” Ruschkewicz said. “I hope to achieve this by leveraging Woolpert’s immense knowledge and commitment to excellence in delivering transportation-based geospatial solutions for state departments of transportation (DOTs) and municipalities nationwide.”

Ruschkewicz said he is excited about the opportunity to work with both Woolpert’s experienced geospatial technical experts and its leading-edge technology.

“Woolpert’s unique structure as an architecture, engineering and geospatial (AEG) firm known for innovation, passion for quality and professional culture, as well as its reputation as a progressive leader in the geospatial industry, were all factors that attracted me to the company,” he said.

Previously, Ruschkewicz worked as a regional survey manager, overseeing survey and telecommunication field service operations in central Texas. He also worked as a senior staff member, responsible for business development and operations for a transportation/infrastructure division at a large survey and geospatial firm in Texas and as a regional geospatial manager for a large engineering firm. He has been involved in many high-profile transportation and energy projects in several states across the country.

A licensed professional surveyor in four states, Ruschkewicz is affiliated with numerous professional organizations, including the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS) and the American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS).

“America’s surface transportation needs continue to be a vitally important issue, particularly in light of ongoing funding constraints, failing infrastructure and population growth,” Woolpert Senior Vice President Thomas Mochty said. “Tom’s 25 years of experience working in the engineering and construction industry, coupled with Woolpert’s industry-leading solutions and expertise, will bring our DOT clients the support they need to deal with these growing challenges today and into the future.”
