CV-22 Osprey Beddown Design
Client
USACE Japan
Location
Yokota Air Base, Japan
Project Size
145,100 square feet
Yokota AB was identified to support the beddown of Air Force Special Operations Forces tilt-rotor aircraft. The installation required the capability to operate, maintain, and deploy 10 CV-22 Osprey aircraft. A Woolpert-led joint venture team provided multidiscipline architecture and engineering design services as a follow-up to the area development plan and user requirements documents developed by Woolpert. The vertical design consisted of five facilities, all of which were designed to meet antiterrorism/force protection criteria, incorporate sustainable design, and procure local materials to create a resilient campus. These facilities included an aircraft hangar and aircraft maintenance unit and squadron, group, storage, and simulator facilities.
