The Kokomo Board of Aviation Commissioners wanted to develop their airport into a jet-friendly facility with a 6,001-foot precision runway and standard runway safety areas. Woolpert assisted in the development of a capital improvement plan for the extension of the airport’s primary runway.

Woolpert provided design and plan preparation services, bidding management, permitting assistance, sub-consultant management, construction management and construction observation services throughout the project. The airport development program also included:

    • Environmental assessment
    • Land acquisition
    • Runway safety area improvements
    • County road relocation
    • Runway and taxiway extension
    • NAVAID relocation

To help meet the project’s aggressive, but feasible, timeline, Woolpert employed creative grant funding and client funding flexibility to ensure on-time completion
