SUFFOLK VIRGINIA ENTERPRISE ASSET MANAGEMENT PROGRAM

Project Details

CLIENT
Suffolk Departments of Public Works, Public Utilities and GIS

LOCATION
Suffolk, VA

The largest land-area of any city in Virginia (encompassing 430 square miles), the City of Suffolk is expected to grow at a rate surpassing all other cities in Virginia. The increasing population, size of the city, economic growth of the region, and unfunded U.S. Government mandates have placed increased demands on the municipality. To help meet these demands, the city decided to develop a program to more effectively manage its assets and resources.

Woolpert implemented Azteca Cityworks™ through a phased, citywide approach, to meet the enterprise asset management needs of the Public Works, Public Utilities and GIS departments.

Prior to this project, the city was hampered by poor departmental communication, lack of labor coordination and untracked maintenance activities, which all affected the speed and reliability of communication. By improving the flow of data between departments and systems, the enterprise approach to this program is improving communications, the support structure and the city’s ability to make long-term strategic planning decisions.
