Site 5C provides production testing for the GE90 and GEnx, among the most powerful jet engines in the world. Test cell facilities demand exacting attention to detail, and Woolpert delivered the design for this concrete, cast-in-place structure to that standard.

Woolpert scaled the test cell from a stakeholder-developed model, replicating its geometry and airflow characteristics to achieve near-identical interior volumes critical for accurate engine performance testing. Mechanical systems included a computer room, control room units, oil, jet fuel, and compressed air systems, and multiple waste plumbing systems. Electrical systems included power supply and distribution for the facility and the master control and instrumentation panels.
