Integrated Care Center Adaptive Reuse

Sitting on the border between Royal Palm Beach and Wellington, Florida, this facility needed to meet the requirements of two different municipal jurisdictions, with all associated permitting. Additionally, the team designed the facility to meet Florida Building Code requirements for Essential Facilities High Velocity Hurricane Zone, converting the original retail space into a much more complex building capable of meeting all of these standards.

Housing an off-campus emergency department (OCED) and an outpatient medical office, the building was designed with two different facades and entrances to delineate between the services. The OCED within this facility features 19 patient care stations, comprehensive diagnostic services, and a fully equipped laboratory. The medical office side includes outpatient services for imaging, oncology, orthopedic, and general medical group practices.

This adaptive reuse project revitalizes an underutilized site and demonstrates the team’s dedication to creating lasting, imaginative, and functional environments.
