Location

Ocean Cay, Bahamas

Size of Project

95 Acres

This design-build project transformed a 95-acre former industrial site into an unparalleled oasis, featuring 46 acres of pristine beaches and an 84-square-mile marine reserve, establishing it as the largest cruise line private island ever developed.

The comprehensive project scope included designing this island paradise from concept to completion, starting with the island’s master planning, which encompassed building, landscape, and hardscape architecture, as well as civil and marine engineering. The project team designed and developed a marina, cruise pier and apron, bridge abutments, bulkheads, and roll-on/roll-off ramps to allow two MSC cruise ships to berth simultaneously, giving passengers direct access to everything the island has to offer.

Passenger amenities feature six distinct beaches stretching over 11,400 feet of beach front, a spa and wellness area, a 2,000-seat amphitheater, a Bahamian village with shopping, dining, and bars, a zip line attraction, a lagoon water feature, private bungalows, a pavilion, and bike paths. Furthermore, the team developed a comprehensive back-of house area for island staff, ensuring seamless, year-round operation. A standout feature is the iconic 140-foot-tall lighthouse, equipped with a world-class light show that dazzles guests into the evening.
