Roadway, Infrastructure Project Manager to Support Woolpert’s Strategic Consulting Group

DENVER (Oct. 23, 2018) — Curtis Obal has been hired by Woolpert as an engineering project manager for its Strategic Consulting Group. Obal has more than 35 years of experience leading state and federal aviation and transportation asset management projects, developing and implementing infrastructure management programs, programming capital projects, and evaluating programs and service contracts.

Obal earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at Rutgers University and his master’s degree in systems management at the University of Southern California. He began his career as an engineering officer for the U.S. Air Force and moved on to become an infrastructure manager at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, which led to him working as an asset management consultant and condition assessment project manager.

In his most recent position before joining Woolpert, Obal managed assessment and inspection of roadway projects for 15 Navy installations, as well as roadways and buildings at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq. He also managed multiple projects assessing facilities and 40,000 miles of roadway for the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management (BLM).

For Woolpert, Obal will continue to play a leadership role in delivering complex condition assessment programs for public and private sector clients to improve the effectiveness and performance of their asset portfolios. He said he joined Woolpert because he believes in promoting sustained healthy growth and in professionals using their talents and skills to solve the problems of clients and the world.

“Woolpert is an outstanding firm with great people,” Obal said. “Each project is another piece of wisdom in solving problems for clients using the latest in technologies and methods to move the industry forward. I want to be a part of that.”
