Woolpert Adds Aviation Design Project Manager to Transportation Team
Carla Fischer has been hired by Woolpert as an Aviation Design Project Manager. Fischer has 32 years of experience in asset and project management, architectural and mechanical design, and computer aided-design and drafting (CADD).
Woolpert Aviation Design Practice Leader Chris Snyder said Fischer is an outstanding communicator, who understands airport operational and personnel issues on a micro and macro scale across departments.
“Carla will help push us creatively, beyond our engineering mindset,” Snyder said. “She can help us remain strategic in new market growth, new client development and new standards to make our team more efficient and profitable.”
Fischer previously served as asset management director and aviation project manager during her 21-year career with the Kenton County Airport Board, which supports the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG). She earned her bachelor’s degree in industrial technology from Eastern Kentucky University and her MBA from Northern Kentucky University.
Fischer said she will focus on Aviation-oriented facility construction projects in her new role.
“Having worked with Woolpert for many years at CVG, I was familiar with the Aviation Design group’s civil engineering talents,” Fischer said. “I look forward to supporting the Aviation Design group and to function as a resource to the team on the construction and renovation of Aviation facility projects.”
Snyder said Fischer’s experience managing large-scale, multimillion-dollar Aviation projects will help Woolpert along its desired growth trajectory.
“Airports are investing in the passenger experience now,” Snyder said. “We need to bolster these types of project experiences as they gain momentum with our clients and in the marketplace. Ultimately, long-term, we’d like to have our own architectural and MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) aviation practice within the Transportation market.”
