Woolpert Announces Corporate Restructure to Accommodate Growth
The AEG firm promoted from within to augment its C-suite, align markets, manage anticipated growth and better serve clients.
DAYTON, Ohio (Dec. 18, 2018) — Woolpert has announced a corporate restructure to reflect the trajectory and scope of its sales and revenue growth over the last few years, to better align project teams and deliver for clients, and to better position the firm for future organic and acquisitive growth. The restructure includes seven corporate positions and three sector leaders, and will go into effect in January.
Scott Cattran will remain as chair of the board of directors, president and chief executive officer (CEO), and will cede his chief operating officer (COO) duties to Kirk McClurkin. McClurkin has been with Woolpert for 13 years and most recently served as the firm’s director of technical operations. Cattran said McClurkin’s primary objectives will be to optimize operational efficiencies and provide standards and best practices across the firm’s three primary sectors.
Jon Downey, market director for Woolpert’s Google Cloud and Maps Partnerships, was named chief innovation officer (CIO). Downey will continue to manage the firm’s Google relationship and augment a host of Subscription Services for Woolpert. Cattran said designating an innovation leader is key to the firm’s growth and to its commitment to technology and new service delivery methods.
“Jon’s appointment supports our goal to become the most innovative AEG (architecture, engineering and geospatial) firm in the world,” Cattran said. “His role will be to leverage emerging technology to enhance our business processes, expand our products and services, and help empower massive firmwide growth across all sectors.”
Woolpert Sales and Marketing Director Shane Imwalle will become the firm’s chief strategy officer (CSO). He will be responsible for assisting the CEO with developing, communicating, executing and sustaining corporate strategic initiatives, while overseeing Woolpert’s newly formed Strategic Consulting Group.
Jennifer Brinkman, director of the firm’s Marketing and Communications Department, was promoted to chief marketing officer (CMO). She will direct marketing, communications and proposals for the firm, and will oversee corporate and acquisition branding.
Human Resources Director Shanda McKinney was elevated to chief human resources officer (CHRO), with a focus on maintaining a positive work culture through growth and retaining the firm’s Great Place to Work designation.
Josh Heid will continue to serve as chief financial officer (CFO).
The three sector leaders named were Todd Duwel, who will manage the firm’s Buildings Sector; Tom Mochty, who will manage the Infrastructure Sector; and Joseph Seppi, who will manage the Geospatial Sector.
“Working with the COO, the sector leaders will focus on improving operations and project delivery, capturing acquisition integration opportunities and creating tighter alignment between market strategies,” Cattran said. “This enables our market directors to enhance their focus on our clients and on maintaining strong organic growth.”
Cattran, who has held multiple positions in his 20 years with Woolpert, said he is a big proponent of developing leadership internally.
