Woolpert Champions Workplace Culture, Launches Multifaceted Careers Site
November 30, 2016
DAYTON, Ohio (Nov. 30, 2016) — Building on its inaugural Great Place to Work designation earlier this year, Woolpert has launched a multifaceted careers page at woolpert.com/careers. The page details the firm’s numerous and varied open positions, enumerates the distinctive benefits of working for the firm, defines its progressive work culture with employee testimonials, and allows potential employees to submit applications for current jobs and for positions not yet posted.
Woolpert—an architecture, engineering and geospatial (AEG) firm—serves seven industry markets from 23 offices nationwide. This makes for varied and prolific job postings, from solicitations for licensed surveyor to aviation planner to civil design engineer to geospatial technician.
Scott Cattran, who has worked for Woolpert since 1999, was named president and CEO this summer. He said the firm intends to not only lead the AEG industry but to have the highest-rated workplace culture as well.
“How people look at employment and longevity is changing, and there is a greater desire for people to control their careers,” Cattran said. “To draw and retain the best talent in multiple industries, we are continually striving to improve and advance our progressive workplace culture.”
This was the first year that Woolpert applied for and was certified as a Great Place to Work, a program that anonymously polls employees based on trust in company leadership, pride in what they do and enjoyment in the company of their co-workers.
“Their program aligns with our business trajectory of striving to be the best,” said Shanda McKinney, Woolpert’s human resources director. “It only makes sense that we’d want to draw the best talent to support that initiative.”
Woolpert is using Great Place to Work analytics generated from its employees to address workplace concerns specific to its offices. The 105-year-old firm also is fostering multiple perks proven to draw and retain talented individuals, including creating a flexible work environment that fits different employees at different stages of their lives.
“Flexible work environments are more able to adapt to job shadowing, job sharing, mentoring, career opportunities, (etc.),” she said. “This fosters teamwork and empowerment, career growth and development across the country.”
Cattran added that the desire is for Woolpert to have a strong bench of next-generation leaders who are inspired by their work and their work environment, and who feel valued by the firm.
“It’s all about the people, and our people are what set us apart in our industry,” he said.
