Woolpert Adds Project Manager Daniel Rey to Water Market

MIAMI (April 12, 2018) — Woolpert has hired Project Manager Daniel Rey, PE, to support its engineering and management needs in the firm’s Water market.

Senior Vice President and Market Director Flint Holbrook, PE, said Rey brings a wide range of experience to complement the firm’s architecture, engineering and geospatial (AEG) strategy for water operations in Miami. Holbrook said Rey’s design experience, his background in municipal operations and his construction background is well suited to this role, and his additional understanding from a client’s perspective will be of great value.

“Danny’s addition will help us manage tasks for existing clients like WASD (Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department), and open up options with other South Florida municipalities and design-build opportunities,” Holbrook said. “He also is supporting our CMOM programs.”

CMOM—Capacity Assurance, Management, Operations and Maintenance—programs provide a holistic, systematic approach to help municipalities control sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs) and respond to consent decrees.

“I am working on the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer CMOM program, and I’m working on a 54-inch force main design build project and a small diameter sewer design project, amid others,” Rey said. “These are all very important projects because they will help clients comply with Federal Clean Water Act regulations.”

Rey, who earned his civil engineering degree from Florida International University, said he was drawn to Woolpert by its employees, culture and learning opportunities.

“My goal is to grow as an engineer and to help grow the company, eventually opening offices in Broward County and West Palm Beach County,” Rey said. “Having cross-market capabilities gives Woolpert an edge by offering clients and other companies we work with a one-stop shop.”

Holbrook said hiring Rey is part of the market’s strategic growth in this critical, opportunity-rich region.

“At Woolpert, we hire folks for their career and not just a project,” Holbrook said. “Danny exemplifies our strategic approach to develop programs in the region for AEG opportunities.”

“I wanted to find a solid company at which I could stay for the rest of my career,” Rey said. “I’m glad to be at Woolpert, and to help the firm become a major player in the South Florida market.”
