The Big Pine gathering system encompasses both 20” and 24” gathering lines extending approximately 57 miles through Butler, Armstrong, Indiana, and Westmoreland counties in Pennsylvania. This $160-million system transports natural gas to multiple existing interstate pipelines in the area and provides an initial capacity of up to 425 million cubic feet per day.
Dawood, a wholly owned subsidiary of Woolpert, completed survey services for completing limit of disturbance stakeout, centerline stakeout, and as-built surveys on 28 miles of the line. The GIS and geotechnical team reviewed the pipeline corridor for hazards, such as historical landslides, surficial and deep coal mines, and problematic geographical features. Additionally, the project team provided geotechnical borings and geophysical investigations for two-meter stations, two HDD river crossings, two HDD major roadway crossings, and two slope instability locations.
