Professionals in various industries from defense to engineering need a fast, low-cost way to produce three-dimensional (3D) models. To meet this need, i23D has developed a proprietary process to easily transform 2D videos into 3D models. This technology is capable of calculating the depth dimension, which is lost during the filming of 2D video. The software tool is designed to measure, model, and export objects out of a non-proprietary video source. From a simple video taken while in motion, the software allows users to measure any object appearing in the footage. In addition, this object, or any other object in the film, can be exported along with its realistic video texture, allowing the object to be plugged into existing 3D CGI environments. The exported object keeps its position in relation to the other objects appearing in the film. This permits users to model and export entire cities, with each building keeping its respective position. By orienting the video according to real-world coordinates, users can also connect several video sources together or simply plug the video model into an existing 3D world.
