Since 2013, Woolpert has been engaged in various wastewater collection system rehabilitation projects for the city of Marietta, one of Atlanta’s largest suburbs. Woolpert’s long-standing relationship with the city includes multiple sanitary sewer evaluation study (SSES) and rehabilitation projects.
2013’s initial improvements project consisted of replacing approximately 5,400 linear feet of 8-inch sanitary sewer main, rehabilitating 28 manholes, and repairing 45 sanitary service laterals from the sewer main connection to the street right-of-way line. Woolpert performed approximately 3,800 linear feet of pipe-bursting replacement with 8-inch HDPE and 1,600 linear feet of open-cut replacement with SDR35 PVC piping.
The city prioritized the sanitary sewer lines for rehabilitation prior to contracting with Woolpert for assistance with the project. Our team then provided the following services:
-
- Field surveying
- Closed-circuit television review
- Design engineering
- Bid document preparation
- Permitting assistance
- Bidding assistance
- Construction administration services
In a follow-up project, Woolpert provided design engineering services for the Nelson Street Sanitary Sewer System. In order to add sanitary sewer service along approximately 1,300 linear feet of Nelson Road, Woolpert designed an 8-inch sanitary sewer main and 6-inch laterals from the main sewer line to the street right-of-way lines.
The current Azalea Circle/Lemon Street Water Improvements Project includes the design of approximately 1,000 linear feet of water line replacement on Azalea Circle and 1,600 linear feet of 8-inch water line replacement on Lemon Street. Woolpert is currently providing the following services for this project:
- Field inspections
- Utility locations
- Topographic surveys and delivery of GIS data
- Review of existing water line data
- Water line replacement design
- Development of construction documents, cost estimates, specifications and bid documents
- Permitting and construction administration support
