CinDay Academy Partners with Woolpert for Campus Growth

May 26, 2017

SPRINGBORO, Ohio (May 26, 2017) — Woolpert has been contracted by The CinDay Academy to renovate its new high school building and create a site plan for its expanding Springboro campus, located along Ohio 741.

CinDay—a private, independent preschool through 12th grade—has transformed a 100-year-old institution by changing the way it educates youth and allowing them the opportunity to achieve, thrive and flourish. The academy recently purchased a neighboring doctor’s office to expand the 12-acre school campus to four buildings, a half mile north of downtown Springboro.

“For 12 years we were a preschool through eighth-grade school, and last school year, we decided to launch this new high school program,” said Gina Pangalangan, CinDay’s founder and principal. “We increased our high school enrollment by 100 percent this year and already have about 60 percent more than that enrolled for next year.”

Pangalangan said the new, reimagined high school building will include a science lab featuring a 3D printer and 3D computer, project-based learning and small group collaboration rooms, a yoga and art studio, a central lounge with an Apple TV, iPads and a coffee bar.

The CinDay Academy had a total enrollment of 160 for the 2016-17 school year, and the new building reportedly will allow the student body to grow to 240.

“We’ve had to turn away people in the past due to lack of space,” Pangalangan said. “Our curriculum is all about kids discovering their strengths, so we teach in different ways. There’s a lot of project-based and hands-on learning, which research supports is the best way to learn and retain knowledge. It’s not just memorization for a test.”

John Martin, a Woolpert landscape architect, said the site plan will tie the four-building academy together via elements that include sidewalks and landscaping to give it a college campus feel. Martin said the integrated design will incorporate a walkway with personalized pavers between the central building and the high school.

Pangalangan said the sale of these personalized pavers will help the school raise money for the new addition. The campaign was scheduled to be announced to the school community Thursday.

“We want the school to have a consistent, integrated look like the universities we work with,” Martin said. “We’re also putting in a fitness course and a sports court area, and will have an outdoor dining patio at the high school.”

Pangalangan said the school’s mission is to create a “remarkable path to the future” for its students.

“We’ve forged a lot of great relationships with local businesses and individuals who believe in our school’s mission to support independent learning and personalized instruction that focuses on 21st-century skills,” she said. “We hope they’ll want to be a part of this path.”
