Woolpert was contracted by the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC) for advanced planning and design services to facilitate architectural upgrades to the main campus Academic Complex.
The team assessed the condition of the five buildings in the Academic Complex to determine the cost of renovation updates, including flooring, ceilings, restrooms, replacement windows, mechanical/electrical/plumbing, and landscape or site characteristics.
To modernize the facilities, the Woolpert team also determined each building’s architectural and structural condition and whether the buildings and the grounds faced any issues complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
The team then identified the needs for each building and the funding necessary to stay within the UNCC budget. The multi-phase renovation efforts are expected to be completed by 2019. The building improvements will better serve students and staff and help position the university for the future.
