Background

Truett Cathy founded Chick-Fil-A, Inc., in the early 1960s; he pioneered the establishment by opening restaurants in shopping malls, including the first Chick-Fil-A restaurant at a mall in suburban Atlanta in 1967. Since then, Chick-Fil-A has steadily grown to become the largest quick-service chicken restaurant chain in the United States, with over 1,850 locations in 41 states and Washington, D.C.

For over a decade, Woolpert has been involved in over 100 Chick-Fil-A retail roll-out programs. From the beginning of the site selection process, Woolpert’s designated team, specially trained in Chick-Fil-A program guidelines and standards, investigates multiple potential store sites and quickly identifies the most cost-effective options. Woolpert then brings advanced technology to each project, helping Chick-Fil-A to more effectively evaluate site plan layouts, zoning code requirements and construction costs. These innovative site optimization tools often result in construction cost savings in excess of project design fees; these savings are identified in a fraction of the time needed by traditional due dilligence methods (days versus weeks).

In 2014, Chick-Fil-A recognized Woolpert’s Bloomington, IN, project as the Fastest Program from Letter of Intent to Purchase to Store Opening.
