DRO Master Plan Update

DRO’s recent growth led to a significant increase in passenger enplanements and modifications to the air carrier fleet. To address these changes, Woolpert conducted a master plan study to determine the extent, type, and schedule of development needed to accommodate existing and future aviation demand over a 20-year planning period. The plan provided a framework for the Airport to feasibly meet demand beyond the planning horizon. Key elements of the master plan are listed below:
- Establishment of a diverse Planning Advisory Committee that provided insight and feedback to the Airport and consulting team throughout the process
- A multi-faceted public and stakeholder involvement program, including a project website: http://sites.jviation.com/dro/index.html
- Airport tenant, user groups, passenger, and operator surveys to identify and assess desired facility improvements
- A long-term plan for terminal facility development
- An analysis of existing solid waste recycling programs and identification of methods to minimize solid waste generation
- An updated Airport Layout Plan (ALP) drawing set that better reflects existing conditions and incorporates the preferred alternative identified in the master plan study
