  • Hanging Rock Visitor Center stands tall in this photo—taken shortly after construction.
  • Rock detail work ties the building into its natural surroundings.

The new 5,000-square-foot visitor center, which is terraced into a gradual slope with a combination of wood, lap siding, stone and glass on the exterior, also includes wood decking, which wraps around to the back side of the structure along with an exhibit room, auditorium, classroom/workshop and a park ranger office.
