Woolpert was selected to provide mobile mapping system (MMS) services supporting electric utility projects in various parts of the country. The installation and repair of major electrical infrastructure requires large machinery, and the timely and accurate condition assessments of haul routes is imperative for maintaining positive relationships with land owners and government entities while avoiding litigation.

Using a vehicle-mounted MMS, Woolpert survey crews collected mobile lidar data along the selected haul routes. Woolpert collected this data before the route was put into service, during construction and after work was completed to create clear, documented portraits of any changes caused by the heavy equipment. This data enabled the utility client to determine the suitability of routes for transport, monitor route conditions throughout the duration of the project and provide necessary remediation actions should damage occur.
