INDIAN RIPPLE AND STROOP ROADS WIDENING

Project Details

CLIENT
Steiner + Associates

LOCATION
Dayton, OH

Located on Indian Ripple Road between I-675 and Stroop Road, The Greene Towne Center is the Dayton’s first mixed-use development area and has more than 500,000 visitors each month. The intersections were originally designed with the intention of significantly less traffic than The Greene would produce. In planning for the additional traffic, Steiner + Associates hired Woolpert to prepare an interchange modification study for the I-675/Indian Ripple interchange. The study was initiated at ODOT’s request upon our completion of a traffic impact study for the proposed center.

Woolpert conducted capacity analysis for the two ramp intersections, merge areas, diverge areas and freeway segments to demonstrate that the proposed modifications would not reduce the level of service on I-675. The required roadway improvements included widening Indian Ripple and Stroop roads to accommodate the additional volume of projected traffic. In total, 4,300 feet of roadway improvements and the design of three traffic signals with interconnect plans were included in the project.
