North Carolina Arboretum
Woolpert was selected by The North Carolina Arboretum (TNCA) for programming, design and preparation of construction documents for the new Baker Exhibit Center. Currently under construction, one of the central missions of the project is to achieve bronze level certification under the Triangle Region High Performance Guidelines. Sustainable design strategies were applied to the building and site—and include a rain garden stormwater feature, exterior shading and geothermal mechanical systems.
These sustainable design practices were included in the design at the programming stage to ensure adequate priority. Completion of the new center will mark a new day for the North Carolina Arboretum, as the facility will serve as the primary visitor portal for the entire 462-acre complex.
