Woolpert completed the supplemental Environmental Assessment (EA), the project design, and construction administration. The project improved airfield safety to comply with FAA regulations.

Background

The Runway 11L safety area required expansion to comply with updated FAA requirements. To accommodate this expanded runway safety area (RSA), State Highway 128 was relocated.

Challenge

After an existing retaining wall was removed, a large amount of earth was required to build out the RSA.

Solution

Build material was taken from county build project in addition to Airport sources.

Outcome

The supplemental EA addressed additional impacts associated with a borrow pit and haul roads west and southwest of the runway. Woolpert also provided design and construction administration services.
