Woolpert provided design and engineering services for an $11.1 million redevelopment of The Shops at Perry Crossing, 600,000-square-foot retail center.

The existing center was home to more than 40 stores and restaurants, including Dick’s Sporting Goods, JCPenney, Barnes & Noble, Old Navy and Carmike Cinemas but lacked engaging community features.

Woolpert’s work heightened the guest experience by enhancing and increasing on-street parking in front of the shops and by providing new and improved lighting throughout the center. The updated center also features a repurposed central public plaza, which now functions as a town square with green space, fountains, a gazebo and restful seating zones within manicured landscape areas.

In addition, the center now boasts enriched gathering areas within the public courts near the entrances of JCPenney and Dick’s Sporting Goods.

The revamp project included new branding and signage around the complex, and Woolpert helped coordinate and manage the addition of new wayfinding tools throughout the property.

Woolpert provided architecture; landscape architecture; mechanical, electrical and plumbing; structural; civil and underground-utility systems reconfiguration services for the project, which took just under four months to complete.
