Woolpert Hires Former USAF Engineer Ben Liptak as Military Project Manager

FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (Sept. 25, 2018) — Ben Liptak has been hired by Woolpert as a project manager in the firm’s Military market. Transitioning from the U.S. Air Force to a civilian career, Liptak brings his military engineering and project management experience to projects that align with his previous military missions and principles.

“The Military market at Woolpert was a perfect fit,” Liptak said. “Woolpert’s exclusive ability to pair its geospatial capabilities with traditional A/E (architecture/engineering) services to help uniquely solve our clients’ challenges distinguishes it as a high-performance firm in an extremely competitive industry. I’m thrilled that I get to play a small part in the achievement of our company’s goals by providing solutions specific to the needs of our Armed Forces.”

Liptak earned bachelor’s degrees in civil engineering and environmental engineering from the U.S. Air Force Academy. He is a Project Management Institute (PMI)-certified Project Management Professional and National Council for Examiners and Engineering and Surveying (NCEES)-certified Engineer in Training.

Most recently, Liptak served the Air Force as chief of project planning and programming, leading a 33-member engineering team through the development and implementation of major design and construction projects. He also has led construction programs at Scott Air Force Base and served as construction liaison for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.

Liptak said he is eager to become involved with projects benefiting those serving our country, as well as the needs of their family members.

“DoDEA (Department of Defense Education Activity) school designs are great opportunities to bring all of Woolpert’s engineering disciplines together to create large-scale, original facilities that will have a lasting, positive impact on our military families at home and abroad,” he said.

He said this is an exciting time at Woolpert, as the company pursues several new contracts to add to its portfolio.

“As an Air Force planner/programmer, I became intimately familiar with the many challenges associated with the aging facilities and infrastructure at our military bases,” Liptak said. “I believe Woolpert and our Military team are in a great position to successfully address these challenges by providing expert, effective solutions.”
