Woolpert Hires Jeffrey Fitzgerald as Managing Director of Strategic Consulting Services
Fitzgerald’s industry experience, technical expertise and thought leadership made him the top choice for this role.
SAN FRANCISCO (Feb. 19, 2019) — Jeffrey Fitzgerald, Ph.D., has been hired by Woolpert to be its managing director of Strategic Consulting. Fitzgerald held a similar position managing strategic advisory services for Jacobs, working at the engineering giant for more than 22 years. His most recent assignment was with LeighFisher, an aviation consulting practice and a subsidiary to Jacobs, serving as operations manager and executive director.
“What I want to do with my career is contribute leadership to developing the best-of-the best consulting team,” Fitzgerald said. “Woolpert is poised to offer all of its vertical markets—including Transportation, Aviation, Facilities, Water and Energy—planning and management solutions to the most complex site, infrastructure and environmental problems. I chose Woolpert because it is an agile and progressive company, and it is attuned to the essential value of advisory services.”
Woolpert Vice President Eric Dillinger said he was excited to have Fitzgerald leading the Woolpert Strategic Consulting practice.
“Dr. Fitzgerald’s industry-level technical expertise and thought leadership, collaborative style and recent project experience with large, complex organizations are the perfect combination,” Dillinger said. “When it comes to industry experts who regularly roll up their sleeves and actually solve complex problems, Dr. Fitzgerald is at the top of that list. He is a highly regarded individual in the industry and an exciting addition to our team.”
Fitzgerald attended Texas Tech and Texas A&M universities, earning a bachelor’s degree and doctorate in geography, and a master’s in interdisciplinary studies. He said he has developed a passion for asset management and helping organizations improve.
“Woolpert’s leadership in geospatial and technical services is proving to be the X-factor in the asset management equation, allowing owners to better understand what they own and how to realize the most return on investment from what they own,” he said. “We collect reliable data for a specific purpose, allowing our clients to make decisions that best support their business needs. This allows them to not only execute, but to adapt as needed to create an optimized operations platform.”
The firm is at a “sweet spot” in size and expertise, he added, which allows it to offer targeted strategic consulting and leverage appropriate talent. Fitzgerald said Woolpert’s staff has an elevated scope of knowledge, since they are selling and applying architecture, engineering and geospatial (AEG) services.
“Woolpert is a global geospatial company that’s perfectly positioned to offer its clients both strategic consulting and technical services,” he said. “For me, it’s like coming home.”
