WORKING AT WOOLPERT

Woolpert Veteran Honored

  • This Veterans Day, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to those who have served to protect the safety and freedoms of our country. During Woolpert’s 103 year-year-old history, we have been proud to call some of these veterans our team members.

One such team member, LaWanna Zummach-Powers, project analyst in our Columbia, SC office, was recently honored at Fulmer Elementary School for her service in the Air Force.

Students and staff of the elementary school gathered to thank the local veterans, with General Van McCarty as the special guest.

“It’s important for our young people to have the opportunity to understand the significance of what our veterans have done,” said McCarty.

The school hosted a full assembly, which included an appearance by the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) and performances by the orchestra, choir and strings musicians.

At the end of the ceremony, each of the students presented the veterans with a piece of handcrafted artwork made uniquely for the veterans.

“It was a very nice, very touching ceremony, and I was honored to be invited!” said Zummach-Powers.

Thank you again to all veterans.
